Course background:

This half day course is accredited by Gloucestershire County Council covering adult safeguarding delivered by GCC approved trainers.  This course also covers the basics of child safeguarding within an adult setting.

This course supports:

KLOE Questions: S2, S3, S3, S4, S5 & S6.  Fundamental Standard: Safeguarding from abuse

SfC recommend refresher period: Annually

Course aims:

The overall aim of the session is to enable participants to understand their responsibility to raise a concern within Gloucestershire’s multi-agency safeguarding policies and procedures.


  • Gain an understanding of the legal and moral responsibility to raise a concern within Gloucestershire’s multi-agency safeguarding policies and procedures
  • What is a safeguarding and what is your role?
  • How to identify an adult potentially in need of safeguarding and how to take action
  • Learn how to raise a safeguarding concern
  • Know and identify the signs and symptoms of the ten categories of abuse
  • Be able to promote dignity and respect when working with individuals
  • Develop knowledge of policy, procedures and legislation that supports safeguarding adults activity and some of the cases that prompted change within it

Please be aware that the content of this course can disturbing for some. Within the context of this course situations of abuse will be mentioned and discussed. It is advisable that if you have not attended this course before and are new to the care environment, you complete the e-learning course beforehand.
